A historical vantage point high above the Berchtesgaden area:
From the Eagle's Nest from revealed to the visitor a stunning panoramic views of up to 200 kilometers. Since 1960 it is managed by the tourism region Berchtesgaden Koenigssee and out of private tenants as a mountain restaurant.
Martin Bormann gave the house Adolf Hitler's 50th birthday. The imposing building with its meter thick walls was created in just one year. Among other things, it was intended for the entertainment of official guests. Hitler himself was rarely visited the Eagle's Nest, because the trips appeared to him there too long and too risky.
After the war, the Eagle's Nest escaped thanks to the personal intervention of former Governor Jacob blowing up by the Allies. Today you can visit the Eagle's Nest. It is preserved in its original form as a historical monument.
